well, of course we had the super-academic achiever Amalina who gave a very straight-from-the heart valedictorian speech , reminding all the awardees that their awards today were not the end but a spur to achieve even more ...
Then there was the oohs and aahhs when the emcee announced that this First Class Honours grad was a Beauty Queen .Yup, she sure was . Faraliza Tan is in fact the Miss Singapore World predecessor to Ris 'Boomz' Low , who we all know has some issues over language and credibility
What I liked most was the Special Achievement Award for Excellence , as it recognises the success of our youth in non-academic fields .
One of them,Aqilah Binte Sudhir,is also a past recipient of the Goh Chok Tong Youth promise Award , so she has certainly fulfilled her promise ....Would you believe she is a shooter ? I would never have guessed .Here she is with 2 selectors of the GCT award , Intan and Elim Chew
Another deserving winner - Najwa Jumali . This Raffles Girls Student must be sea-sick of having to answer everyone's question of how she manages to balance studies and top-class sailing . I asked her the same thing . Believe me, najwa , people ask you this question because we are amazed .....
well, one sportsman should understand another ...Congrats, Dzulhaili ....this swimmer sure looks a tough cookie and that's vital if you want to succeed in sports ..as in life .
CONGRATS to all of you awardees , not just the ones mentioned here .....may your success inspire many more .......
